VMware Virtualization Engineer

We are currently seeking a VMware Virtualization Engineer to join our team in Atlanta, Georgia (US-GA), United States (US). Position Summary: The VMware Virtualization Engineer is a senior information technology professional within the Datacenter Optimization Practice who analyzes existing x86/x64 architectures and workloads and designs new or complementary solutions for transformed environments, implements solutions, and troubleshoots any residual issues after transformation. As part of the practice the VMware Virtualization Engineer will participate in early project discovery to understand the current mode of operation (CMO). The VMware Virtualization Engineer will then participate in the evaluation of those workloads and create a Future Mode of Operation (FMO) Design that aligns with the company's service catalog. The VMware Virtualization Engineer will concentrate on high-level server related duties such as system architecture, network design and dependencies, selection of physical replacement devices and assessment of virtualization feasibility, lead troubleshooting activities for outages and/or performance issues during transformation projects. The VMware Virtualization Engineer will lead administrative resources in the implementation of the prescribed design. The VMware Virtualization Engineer will review, analyze, and document system requirements and dependencies and select the best manner of transformation in the FMO environment. The VMware Virtualization Engineer will identify and document requirements, define scope and objectives, and identify system modifications needed to support business requirements and initiatives in the transformed environment. The VMware Virtualization Engineer will migrate Windows workloads from the CMO to FMO environments using specific migration tools and appliances (PlateSpin, DoubleTake, VMconverter) and industry best practices. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Implementing, administering and maintaining a large virtual server environment 500+ Windows 2008R2/2012 Servers, 95%+ virtualized in VMWare ESX w/ vSphere, vCenter Ops Manager, etc. Upgrading and updating the VMware environment (planned migration from 5.5 to 6.x) Fine tuning, configuring and supporting and troubleshooting issues within the virtual server / storage environment Configuring and supporting blade servers prefer experience with Cisco UCS B-Series and C-Series, but any background with IBM BladeCenter, HP or Dell blades would be translatable experience. Carving out and provisioning the EMC VNX Storage & storage virtualization (VNX5300, VNX 5500, and VNX5800 devices). Configuring and managing the storage processes of data backup and recovery through the use Dell AppAssure or similar tools. Coordinating with managed services for data backup and recovery. Requirements Education and Experience: Bachelors Degree in an Information Technology Discipline and 6 or more years professional experience 8+ years of Senior Windows Administration Virtualization-VMware-Server Virtualization (ESX, ESXi): 5+ years exp. The starting pay range for this remote role is 100k to 150k. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target compensation for the position across all US locations. Actual compensation will depend on a number of factors, including the candidate's actual work location, relevant experience, technical skills, and other qualifications. This position may also be eligible for incentive compensation based on individual and/or company performance.
