We have an exciting opportunity for a Construction Project Director who will lead and manage large-scale and complex construction projects. The role requires strong technical expertise, extensive project management experience, and the ability to secure new business within the mission critical sector. The Project Director is responsible for assembling project delivery teams with the requisite qualifications and experience, and working with cross-functional teams to ensure successful initiation, planning, construction, and closure of projects.

Location You can be located anywhere in the US, if you are highly willing to travel to our client projects on a long-term basis.

Responsibilities

Project Planning and Strategy: Developing comprehensive construction plans, defining scope, goals, and deliverables in alignment with organizational objectives

Team Leadership: Leading cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration, and ensuring effective communication among stakeholders

Resource Management: Allocating resources efficiently, managing budgets, and ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within scope

Risk Management: Identifying potential risks and implementing mitigation strategies to minimize impact on project timelines and outcomes

Stakeholder Engagement: Communicating with internal and external stakeholders, including executives, clients, and vendors, to ensure alignment and address concerns

Performance Monitoring: Tracking project progress through metrics and reporting, adjusting plans as necessary to meet changing requirements or challenges

Quality Assurance: Ensuring that all deliverables meet required quality standards and compliance regulations

Innovation and Improvement: Continuously seeking ways to optimize processes and improve project outcomes through innovative technologies or methodologies

The Project Director will support client new work efforts, oversee hiring initiatives, ensure safety, budget, quality, schedule, and profitability performance. You will play a critical role in ensuring the successful execution of projects that drive growth and innovation within the organization and serve our client’s needs.

Qualifications To qualify for the role, you must have

A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Project Management, Business Administration, or other technical discipline and approximately fifteen (15) or more years of related work experience, including five (5) years in a leadership role

Proven track record in project management, particularly in the construction industry

Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, with experience assembling and leading project delivery teams

Experience in the following required: managing projects with $100M+ budgets in sectors such as general construction, electrical construction, manufacturing construction, technology or infrastructure (transportation, utilities, communication, buildings or energy)

A valid driver’s license in the US and a valid passport; willingness and ability to travel; travel estimated at 70+%

Ideally You’ll Also Have

Excellent communication and organizational skills to coordinate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders

Strong history of leading, motivating and mentoring cross-functional teams

Strong knowledge of construction processes, laws, standards, and regulations

Successful background maintaining high safety standards and delivering quality outcomes

Experience in developing and implementing project strategies, plans, schedules and budgets while working with project teams

Technologies and Methodologies

Building Information Modeling (BIM) for planning, designing, and managing data center construction projects

Project Management Software: MS Office Suite, Procore, CMiC, and P6

Cloud-based Project Management Tools for centralized communications and documents

Sustainability Practices: Energy-efficient strategies and sustainable construction practices

Skills and Attributes

Technical knowledge of construction and engineering processes, procurement, project controls reporting, and contract management

Budget management, financial forecasting, and resource allocation

Risk identification, assessment, and mitigation

Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments and adapt to changing requirements

Accountability for safety, budget, quality, schedule, and profitability

Experience developing and implementing quality management plans

Coordination of design documentation and management of scope creep, cost optimization, procurement, and quality across development stages
