About Ergo Ergo turns every customer conversation—across Zoom, email, Slack, and phone—into structured CRM data, proactive follow-ups, and real-time revenue insights. We free sales teams from busywork so they can focus on relationships and closing deals.
Why This Role Exists We’ve proven product–market fit with early reference customers and are now scaling our platform to handle massive data volumes and increasingly complex AI-driven workflows. As our next Backend Engineer, you’ll be building the infrastructure and systems that make Ergo fast, reliable, and capable of serving thousands of users in real time.
What You’ll Tackle
Scaling Core Services:
Architect and scale ingestion pipelines and APIs to handle millions of daily events across calls, emails, and messages.
System Reliability & Performance:
Design robust distributed systems that ensure uptime, resilience, and sub-second response times.
Data & AI Workflows:
Build infrastructure for advanced AI agents that handle sales tasks—like CRM updates, follow-ups, and insights—across diverse customer setups.
Integrations:
Develop deep integrations with CRMs, communication tools, and productivity platforms.
Collaboration & Product Impact:
Work directly with founders and customers to scope features, gather feedback, and iterate quickly.
You Might Be a Fit If You
Bring 1+ years of experience building and scaling production-grade backend systems.
Have strong proficiency in Node.js and/or Python.
Are comfortable designing APIs and working with distributed systems.
Are interested in real-time data processing, AI workflows, and large-scale ingestion challenges.
Thrive in ambiguity, bias toward action, and enjoy building from zero to one.
Communicate clearly and collaborate well with both technical and non-technical teammates.
Love learning fast and picking up new tools, frameworks, or approaches as needed.
You Might Not Be a Fit If You
Are looking for a 9–5: the team typically works all day with breaks, meals, and exercise; it’s common to work into the night.
Need extensive handholding: everyone on the team is doing critical work; high agency is valued.
Aren’t comfortable optimizing for speed: sometimes this means creative, hacky, or messy solutions.
Don’t like working closely with others: we collaborate constantly, giving and receiving feedback in real time.
Are uncomfortable working with a young, high-velocity team.
Nice-to-Haves
Experience with real-time data pipelines or high-volume ingestion systems.
Familiarity with CRM, RevOps, or sales tooling integrations.
Exposure to AI systems, LLMs, or retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).
