The Staff Dentist performs evaluation, diagnosis, prevention and treatment of diseases, injuries and malformations of teeth, periodontal tissues and other related oral structures and their impact on the body. The Staff Dentist performs general dental hygiene and periodontal treatment, provides patients with dental education, and may perform restorations, crowns, bridges, implant-supported restorations and dentures; root canal therapy and oral surgery procedures; pediatric dentistry and orthodontic treatment within scope of training. A Staff Dentist manages patient care and provides necessary referrals with prompt follow up. He/She supervises and guides dental auxiliaries and front office staff to provide excellent care. Patient Care
Provides and manages patient care Delivers high quality of care in basic and advanced dental services for patients of all ages Diagnoses and treats patients with attention to comfort and treatment time Delivers treatment plans and conducts informed consent discussions Performs referrals and communicates with specialists Provides patient education materials Maintains excellent people skills and a caring attitude Supports preventive dentistry programs Creates treatment plans and prioritizes based on medical necessity Supervision
Manages immediate staff (assistants and patient care coordinator) Ensures correct coding and accurate patient records Monitors scheduling; supports PCCs with scheduling and patient panel management Leads and supervises others; shares information from seminars and trainings Performs annual performance evaluations for RDAs and PCCs Administration
Maintains accurate and up-to-date patient records Documents visit details to facilitate billing and demonstrate medical necessity Compliance
Follows protocols, policies and procedures Adheres to Standards of Care and Quality Assurance & Improvement programs Complies with state and federal regulations (DBCA, OSHA, Cal/OSHA, infection control) Ensures patient confidentiality pursuant to law Other Duties
Supports clinic mission and goals; attends required meetings and trainings Maintains positive community relationships; collaborates with IT and labs/vendors Contributes to achieving budget goals and cost-conscious in materials, supplies, equipment Performs other related tasks as directed Qualifications
Education/Experience
Graduate of an ADA-accredited Dental School Desired Skills
Diagnostic ability, manual skills, good visual memory, judgment of space, shape and color, manual dexterity Good business sense, self-discipline, communication skills Proficiency in X-rays, photographs, infection control, lab communication, and use of dental instruments and equipment Licenses and Certifications
Active dental license for the state of CA Completed CE requirements including Dental Practice Act and Infection control Current BLS certification Language Skills
Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred (written and verbal). Notes
