Dignity Health Job Summary and Responsibilities This position is responsible for providing diagnostic and therapeutic cardiopulmonary procedures as defined by departmental policies and procedures to newborns through geriatrics. Responsibilities include patient care, critical care patient assessment, and related patient care plans. This position also requires the utilization of advanced practitioner skills to intervene in complex patient care situations. The Respiratory Care Practitioner assists in the development of policies and procedures, patient protocols, education/coaching of nursing and support personnel, multidisciplinary patient care conferences, and process improvement. Minimum Job Requirements
Certificate of Completion from an accredited two-year Respiratory Care Program preferred or currently enrolled in a program. Current/pending licensure by the State of California Respiratory Care Board as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP). Registered with the National Board for Respiratory Care or achieve registration within one year of hire date (RRT). Certification in American Heart Association basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation (AHA BLS). Certification in American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (AHA ACLS). Certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support required within six months of hire (PALS). Certification in Neonatal Advanced Life Support or within six months of hire (NRP). Employees assigned to EEG, EKG, EMG must have EKG and EEG certification within the last 5 years or 1 year of experience in the operation of electrocardiographic, electromyelographic, and electroencephalographic equipment.
