With 22 operating rooms (ORs), our 14 surgical specialties include: Cardiothoracic Neurosurgery Orthopedic Urology Robotics Robotic Center for Excellence, over 10,000 robotic cases completed The United States’ largest live donor liver transplant program The Surgical Technologist (ST) is a member of the surgical team responsible for providing intra-operative care to the surgical patient. This role operates in a fast-paced environment with a focus on patient progression goals, quality initiatives, and achieving high patient satisfaction. The ST may precept other staff and students and functions under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse/Circulating Nurse. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Assists and collaborates with the Circulating nurse to set up for surgical procedures with proper instrumentation, equipment and supplies. Primary role is as a ST, passing instruments and supplies to the surgeon at the sterile field. Anticipates needs of the surgical team during procedures and provides proper instruments, equipment, and supplies. Assists in the care, cleaning and maintenance of general and specialty instruments, equipment and supplies according to established guidelines, policies and procedures. Collaborates with the Circulating nurse to ensure the accuracy of sponge, sharps and instrument counts. Responsible for applying principles of asepsis to maintain the sterile field. Participates in quality improvement/quality assurance processes at the unit level. Communicates effectively and supports turnover goals and on-time starts through parallel processing with the circulating nurse/team staff. Participates in WHO Checklist, hand hygiene, and other department safety and quality initiatives. Must be able to take on-call assignments for specified nights, weekends and holidays. Handles specimens according to policy and procedure. Participates in departmental or interdepartmental quality improvement activities and completes mandatory education as required. Minimum Qualifications
Education: Requires successful completion of an approved surgical technologist program or surgical technologist training in the military services. Licensure, Certification, Registration: Certified Surgical Technologist credential through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA). Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: Demonstrates the ability to be thoroughly trained to meet organizational standards. Additional Information
