Under the direction of the System Medical Director of Infection Prevention and Control, the Associate Medical Director will assist with the development, implementation and oversight of the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) and Antimicrobial Stewardship Program (ASP) policies and procedures, in collaboration with health system and hospital leadership and relevant stakeholders. The Medical Director is responsible for overall quality, safety, regulatory activities and performance excellence. Roles and Responsibilities

The primary role will be to serve as the Associate Medical Director of Infection Prevention and Associate Medical Director of Antimicrobial Stewardship for Henry Ford Health. Improve and reduce hospital-acquired infection (HAI) rates. Provide subject matter expertise in IPC, healthcare epidemiology and antimicrobial stewardship. Optimize utilization of diagnostic testing and antimicrobials with subsequent implementation of IPC and diagnostic and antimicrobial stewardship process improvement efforts. Develop and implement IPC and ASP principles and policies related to reduction of multi-drug resistant organisms (MDROs), outbreak response and special pathogens. Interpret epidemiologic and antimicrobial use data, and improve data infrastructures and data reporting in compliance with NHSN, CMS and other internal metrics. Coordinate multidisciplinary initiatives; participate in committees; educate and mentor staff. Skills/Competencies

Demonstrated competency and enthusiasm in leading IPC and ASP initiatives Demonstrated leadership skills in working with individuals and teams Proficient in using metrics to manage programs and services Ability to mentor less experienced employees and medical staff Knowledge of quality improvement theory and method Ability to write concise, informative letters, memoranda, policies, and reports Maturity, initiative, and self-direction Experience with databases, clinical systems, and epidemiologic analysis, including familiarity with submitting and extracting data to CDC’s NHSN Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills Qualifications

MD or equivalent from an approved LCME medical school; completed Internal Medicine residency and Infectious Diseases fellowship from an ACGME-accredited program Eligible for Michigan medical licensure; board-certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Disease Supervisory/leadership experience in a healthcare setting Two+ (2+) years of experience in ASP and/or IPC with strong working knowledge of infectious diseases, data collection, and statistics Strong leadership skills to advance IPC and ASP Ability to manage projects and programs in a highly matrixed organization Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills for clinical and non-clinical audiences Ability to establish physician relationships and manage an interdisciplinary team Commitment to organizational values and diversity, including equity across religious, racial and gender lines Integrity, maturity and honesty aligned with the mission and values of Henry Ford Health Excited to work in an integrated system redefining healthcare delivery Additional Information
