Overview
Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant position in the APP Float Pool at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. This role collaborates with a physician to manage outpatient care. The NP/PA handles acute and chronic problems related to oncology and provides anticipatory guidance, patient and family education, and psychological and emotional support. The NP/PA has prescriptive authority including schedule II through V controlled substances in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. This position requires weekend rotation coverage and is located in Boston, MA. Responsibilities
Collaborate with physicians to manage therapeutic regimens for outpatient oncology care, including acute and chronic problems related to disease and treatment. Provide education to patients and families, anticipatory guidance, and psychological and emotional support. Communicate effectively within an interdisciplinary care team at the Institute and with collaborating institutions and agencies. Engage in ongoing learning to strengthen knowledge base in support of the Institute’s Mission, Vision and Core Values. Contribute to quality improvement and leadership efforts to advance nursing/medical care within the work setting and community. Participate in weekend rotation coverage as required. Qualifications
Nurse Practitioner Qualifications
Authorization to practice in an expanded role as a Nurse Practitioner in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Current certification from a nationally recognized accrediting body approved by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing for Nurse Practitioners Minimum of 24 contact hours beyond generic education in pharmacotherapeutics Masters degree in Nursing Minimum of 1 year oncology nursing experience or 1 year Nurse Practitioner experience Oncology Nurse Practitioner experience preferred In possession of Massachusetts Department of Public Health and Federal DEA numbers Certification in Oncology Nursing preferred - OCN, AOCN, CPON, BMTCN, CPHON Physician Assistant Qualifications
A Masters Degree and successful completion of an AAPA/NCCPA accredited Physician Assistant Studies program Must be NCCPA Certified and licensed to practice as a Physician Assistant in Massachusetts Must maintain current DEA and Massachusetts Controlled Substance Licenses Must complete 100 hours of CME according to national and state regulations during each 2 year period of employment PA I: No professional experience required PA II: 2 years of qualifying professional Physician Assistant experience PA III: 5 years of qualifying professional Physician Assistant experience Pay Transparency
Pay ranges are based on market pay structures; salaries are determined by factors such as business needs, market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience and qualifications. Physician Assistant I: $126,100 - $145,500 Physician Assistant II: $137,300 - $157,200 Physician Assistant III: $152,500 - $174,600 Nurse Practitioner: $125K - $283K EEOC
