CVS Caremark, a leading pharmacy benefit management (PBM) company, is seeking a highly visible and strategic Executive Director to oversee a business unit P&L. This role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize rebate structures, enhance profitability, and ensure accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of our Network and pricing arrangements with our clients and pharmacies and the ability to communicate complex financial concepts to stakeholders at all levels. Responsibilities Include
Strategic Leadership Lead the FP&A function, ensuring alignment with the organization’s overall business strategy. Develop and implement financial planning methodologies that support long-term growth and operational excellence. Define and drive organizational policies, goals, and objectives based on industry best practices. Ability to interpret complex financial data into clear, actionable insights Aligning financial plans with strategy and market dynamics Anticipating risks and opportunities providing recommendations ahead of the curve
Financial Planning & Reporting Oversee the annual budgeting process, forecasting cycles, and financial modeling. Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with regulatory standards. Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and revenue activity trends to identify opportunities and performance gaps.
Business Partnership Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leadership, providing insights and recommendations based on financial analysis. Collaborate cross-functionally to support decision-making and drive business outcomes.
Operational Excellence Champion the transformation of data and infrastructure to enhance , risk management, and external reporting. Leverage innovative technologies to improve productivity, service delivery, and colleague experience.
Leadership and Talent Development Foster a culture of engagement, growth, and mobility through training, career planning, and succession management. Manage team performance through continuous feedback and formal review processes. Strong communication and storytelling skills – making finance relatable to non-financial leaders.
Required Qualifications
15+ years of progressive experience in financial planning & analysis (FP&A), corporate finance, or related fields. Proven leadership experience managing high-performing teams and driving strategic initiatives. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and translate it into actionable insights. Expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling within a large, matrixed organization. Demonstrated ability to influence senior leadership and collaborate cross-functionally. Excellent communication and storytelling skills, especially in making financial concepts relatable to non-financial stakeholders. Experience managing P&L and driving profitability through strategic financial planning. Preferred Qualifications
Experience in the healthcare or pharmacy benefit management (PBM) industry, particularly with network and pricing arrangements. Familiarity with rebate structures and external reporting requirements. Knowledge of innovative financial technologies and data infrastructure transformation. Experience with enterprise-wide strategic planning and investment decision support. Education
Bachelor’s degree required in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field. MBA or advanced degree preferred, especially with a focus in Finance, Strategy, or Healthcare Administration. Pay Range The typical pay range for this role is $131,500.00 - $303,195.00. This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. Our people fuel our future.
