IT Business Analyst

in our Chicago office. This position is hybrid and has work-from-home flexibility. Position Summary The

IT Business Analyst

plays a critical role in bridging the gap between the Firm's business needs and technical capabilities. This individual is responsible for identifying, analyzing, and documenting business and system processes and requirements to streamline operations and improve efficiency. Position Responsibilities Conducts in-depth analysis of business processes, data flows, and system landscapes, identifying inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement. Documents current and future-state processes, develops functional and technical requirements, and creates workflows to support project execution. Facilitates workshops and meetings to gather requirements, identify gaps, and develops functional consensus among stakeholders. Oversees the requirements gathering and documentation of functional and technical specifications for projects. Drives process improvement initiatives to eliminate system complexities, improve user experience, and increase operational efficiency. Maintains strong partnerships with key business and technical stakeholders to understand business needs, strategies, and priorities. Contributes to regular discussions to identify opportunities for IT to deliver value through innovation, process improvement, or enhanced capabilities. Serves as a collaborative bridge between the IT department and the Firm's business units to align technology initiatives with organizational goals. Ensures end-user satisfaction by translating business needs into IT deliverables and maintaining open lines of communication throughout projects. Supports the Firm's change management initiatives, ensuring smooth adoption of new systems, tools, or processes. Assists in creating user training materials and conducting training sessions for end-users and technical teams. Develops a comprehensive understanding of the Firm's key applications, including legal practice management systems, document management systems, timekeeping tools, and collaboration platforms. Maintains standard operating procedures, user manuals, and documentation for application systems and workflows. KEY COMPETENCIES Strong critical thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Exceptional written and oral communication skills, capable of effectively interacting with all levels of business stakeholders. Proven ability to map, analyze, and optimize business processes, as well as implement innovative solutions. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and project management principles. Proactive, customer-oriented mindset with a focus on driving solutions and achieving results. Strong interpersonal skills to foster collaboration and build consensus among diverse teams. Experience in change management, particularly in implementing new systems or processes. Qualifications A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or 5+ years of equivalent work experience in IT and business/industry roles. Minimum of 2 years of experience in business analysis, project management, or business relationship management. Demonstrated experience with business process analysis and improvement. Familiarity with full-service law firm technologies and processes is a plus. Change management certification (ProSci CMP or similar) is a plus.
