Summary The Water Meter Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of water submeters remote meter reading systems across a portfolio of commercial properties. This role focuses on privately owned metering systems within landlord-maintained areas, supporting accurate utility tracking and water system performance through fieldwork, inspections, documentation and collaboration with licensed plumbing contractors and 3rd party billing and meter reading services.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

Install and replace water submeters remote reading devices (Next Century system experience preferred) within landlord-maintained infrastructure. Maintain, test, and troubleshoot submeter systems, including transmitters, wiring, and signal connectivity. Perform diagnostics to identify and correct meter inaccuracies, signal issues, and equipment failures. Conduct routine inspections to ensure meters are functioning correctly and data is accurately transmitted. Coordinate with property managers and tenants to schedule installations, inspections, and repairs. Maintain detailed records of service work, equipment, and readings. Assist with minor plumbing tasks tied to meter functionality when necessary. Respond to urgent service needs, including occasional after-hours calls. Work area primarily, but not limited to, west coast of Florida. Some overnight travel may be required. Qualifications

Valid driver’s license required. 3–5 years of experience in plumbing, water metering, or utility service roles, preferably in commercial property settings. Experience with submetering systems and remote monitoring equipment (Next Century or similar). Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills. Familiarity with water system layouts, backflow devices, and commercial plumbing components. Clear communication, organization, and independent work habits. Flexibility to respond to emergencies or time-sensitive issues. Physical Requirements

Lift up to 75 pounds and operate tools and equipment. Manual dexterity for handling small parts and wiring. Ability to climb ladders and work at heights up to 30 feet. Regular walking, driving, and physical activity across multiple locations.
