Software Development Manager, Amazon Neptune — Amazon Web Services (AWS). Amazon Neptune is a fast, scalable, fully-managed graph database service that makes it easy to build and run applications that work with highly connected datasets. The core of Amazon Neptune is a purpose-built, high-performance graph database engine optimized for storing hundreds of billions of relationships and querying with milliseconds latency, allowing you to easily build queries that efficiently navigate highly connected datasets. Neptune works actively with the Apache TinkerPop Gremlin open-source project. Neptune powers graph use cases such as recommendation engines, fraud detection, knowledge graphs, drug discovery, network security, and many more. Key responsibilities

Lead the development of cloud-native database services optimized for cloud environments Design, implement, test, and deploy database services that support high availability, reliability, and performance guarantees for AWS customers Mentor engineers and managers while contributing hands-on technical work Drive technical decisions, design tradeoffs, and feature prioritization Partner with senior executives to define business targets and resource planning Build and scale engineering teams through recruitment and talent development Shape technical strategy to deliver innovative solutions for customers

Basic Qualifications

5+ years of engineering team management experience 10+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience 3+ years of leading development of applications backed by AWS services or cloud-based technologies 10+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements and describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Depending on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
