Overview
Back End Staff Software Engineer (Bangkok based, Relocation provided) at Agoda. This role focuses on building and maintaining core backend systems that power Agoda's travel platform. Responsibilities
Work on mission-critical systems that serve millions of users daily. Build scalable, fault-tolerant systems and APIs covering core business areas such as inventory and pricing, product information, customer data, communications, partner data, booking systems, and payments. Utilize modern CI/CD and testing practices to ensure reliability and close to zero downtime. Make architectural decisions and help set technical direction for the team. Collaborate with international teams to deliver high-quality software and robust solutions. What You’ll Need To Succeed
10+ years of experience developing performance-critical applications in production using Scala, Java, Kotlin, C#, Go, or other modern languages. Strong RDBMS knowledge (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, or similar). Ability to direct significant company-wide projects and set technical vision. Good command of the English language. Experience in architectural decision-making and establishing coding standards and direction for the team. Experience implementing advanced CI/CD pipelines and robust testing strategies. Passion for software development and continuous learning. Nice to Have
Knowledge in NoSQL, queueing systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ, MSMQ), and Play framework. Location
