Job Title:
Director of Product Development – Auto Accessories
The Director of Product Development will oversee the full product lifecycle—from concept and design to manufacturing and launch—ensuring our portfolio remains competitive and aligned with market demand. This role will lead a cross-functional team, drive innovation, and maximize the value of our licensed brand partnerships by bringing differentiated, high-performing products to market.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the product development strategy for automotive accessories, ensuring alignment with company vision, consumer needs, and licensed brand standards. Oversee concept ideation, prototyping, design, testing, and commercialization of new products. Manage and mentor a team of product developers, designers, and engineers. Partner with licensing, marketing, sales, and operations to ensure product launches deliver on both brand integrity and business objectives. Conduct market and competitive analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and whitespace in the auto accessories sector. Collaborate with sourcing, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure products meet cost, quality, and performance standards. Build and maintain strong vendor, supplier, and licensing partner relationships, both domestic and international. Ensure licensed products adhere to brand guidelines, legal requirements, and quality expectations. Establish and track KPIs to measure product development performance and profitability. Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the product development lifecycle.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Product Development, Engineering, Industrial Design, or related field (MBA a plus). 10+ years of experience in product development, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within automotive accessories, aftermarket, or consumer product licensing. Proven track record of successfully launching licensed consumer-facing automotive products. Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and sourcing (domestic and global). Experience collaborating with licensors and maintaining compliance with brand requirements. Excellent leadership, team management, and communication skills. Ability to balance creative design with business and operational priorities. Passion for the automotive industry and staying ahead of emerging trends.
Salary $100,000-$120,000
