EOC Custodial Supervisor (Provisional) – Brooklyn Educational Opportunity Center (BEOC) at The City University of New York. This role supervises custodial staff and oversees cleaning and maintenance of BEOC facilities and the immediate grounds. Responsibilities

Under supervision, supervise cleaning and maintenance of BEOC buildings, their furnishings and immediate grounds. Supervise a small- to medium-sized group of employees, principally cleaners, on assigned tours of duty. Perform tasks such as sweeping, dusting, scrubbing, polishing, washing, shampooing carpets, cleaning sidewalks and walkways, gathering and disposing of refuse in accordance with New York City recycling regulations, operating elevators, moving school furniture, and mowing and caring for lawns. Inspect the work of subordinates to ensure maximum efficiency, economy and quality of work. Prepare work schedules utilizing college systems for scheduling and/or timekeeping. Store and issue supplies. Train or arrange for training of new employees. Monitor and evaluate employee performance in keeping with CUNY guidelines. Maintain records and prepare required reports. Oversee the use and maintenance of cleaning equipment such as compactors, extractors, buffing machines and vacuum cleaners. May perform minor maintenance work such as replacing light bulbs. Ensure all appropriate safety procedures are observed in the performance of tasks and direct the use of ladders in accordance with safety regulations. Minimum Qualifications

Completion of an eighth grade education and three years of full-time experience in the cleaning and maintenance of a building. Additional education above the eighth grade may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to two years of the required work experience. However, all candidates must possess a minimum of one (1) year of full-time work experience as described above. Part-time experience of at least 20 hours per week may be prorated and credited instead of, but not in addition to, full-time experience during the same period. Demonstrated English language proficiency (ability to speak, read, write, and understand English well enough to meet job requirements). By the completion of the probationary period, demonstrated competency in supervising employees. Compensation and Benefits

New Hire: $38,712; Incumbent: $42,932. This amount reflects a 13% salary suppression in effect for the first 24 months of employment. CUNY offers a comprehensive benefits package to employees and eligible dependents based on job title and classification. Employees are also offered pension and Tax-Deferred Savings Plans. Part-time employees must meet a weekly or semester work hour criteria to be eligible for health benefits. Health benefits are also extended to retirees who meet the eligibility criteria.
