DoorDash About The Team DoorDash Labs is an independent team at DoorDash that focuses on robotics and automation to develop autonomous delivery solutions as part of the DoorDash platform. The team is responsible for creating tools for authoring HD maps, mapping algorithms, map validation, and routing for robots. About The Role DoorDash Labs is hiring a Mapping Tools Engineer who is enthusiastic about map-making, robotics, and autonomy and has practical experience authoring large-scale HD maps. The role involves enhancing our existing software to build HD maps, creating algorithms to automate map generation, and creating powerful tools to accelerate map curation. The team aims to implement advanced processes, tools, and frameworks to create a robust, world-class mapping system that enhances the capabilities of our robots and supports our scalability efforts. Responsibilities Create advanced 3D editing tools to author high-quality HD maps. Play a key role in scaling our robotics operations across multiple large geographic areas. Design state-of-the-art algorithms to improve map-making efficiency Collaborate closely with our team of map curators to accelerate HD map curation Contribute to the mapping roadmap and work closely with stakeholders Qualifications B.S in Computer Science or equivalent Strong understanding of C++ 5+ years of experience writing professional software systems Experience with large-scale map-making for autonomous systems Experience with 2D / 3D Graphics (e.g. OpenGL, Vulkan, DirectX, etc) Experience writing 2D / 3D editing tools (e.g. 3D mesh editing, vector graphics editing, etc) Experience with C++ UI libraries (e.g. QT, ImGui, etc) Adaptability, resilience, and ability to thrive in ambiguity Excellent analytical, conceptual, problem-solving skills and high attention to detail Notice to Applicants Notice to Applicants for Jobs Located in NYC or Remote Jobs Associated With Office in NYC Only We use Covey as part of our hiring and/or promotional process for jobs in NYC and certain features may qualify it as an AEDT in NYC. Results of the audit may be viewed here: Covey Compensation and Benefits The successful candidate's starting pay will fall within the pay range listed below and is determined based on job-related factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. Base salary is localized according to an employee’s work location. Ranges are market-dependent and may be modified in the future. In addition to base salary, the compensation for this role includes opportunities for equity grants. Talk to your recruiter for more information.
