Psychology

to begin August 2026. The field of specialty within psychology is open, and the Department is looking for a faculty member whose expertise will both complement and expand those of the current faculty. The ideal candidate will have a record of excellent undergraduate teaching and research mentorship, a strong research program, and substantive experience as department chair or with similar administrative responsibilities. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in psychology.

The primary responsibilities include: Teaching four courses per academic year (2-2 semester course load). Mentoring and advising undergraduate and graduate students. Engaging in scholarly activity by publishing in academic and professional journals, presenting at academic and professional conferences, and actively engaging undergraduate and graduate students in their research. Serving on departmental, college, and University committees. The expectation of serving one or more terms as Chair, post tenure. The successful candidate will teach courses within general education, including introduction to psychology and the College’s first-year seminar program, as well as research methods and upper-division lab courses within their area of expertise. Our faculty are dedicated teachers, mentors, and advisors who develop innovative pedagogies to enhance student learning in addition to engaging actively in scholarship and service. The Department of Psychology

consists of eight full-time faculty who provide coursework in theoretical and research foundations of psychology, with intensive student involvement in research and applied experiences. Psychology is one of the largest majors in the University, with over 200 undergraduate majors and minors. Minimum Qualifications A doctorate in Psychology. Evidence of scholarly productivity. Three (3) years as an assistant professor or similar position teaching in-person courses at the college level, as the instructor of record. Demonstrated commitment to department, unit, and university service, and administrative experience. Previous administrative experience which can include chairing a department, program coordination, or other department, college, or university leadership roles. Preferred Qualifications

One (1) year of recent experience as a department chair or similar position. Mentoring and supervising undergraduate students and undergraduate research assistants. Record of scholarship and teaching that demonstrates prospects of independence and persistence. Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures. Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting. Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.
