Essential duties include performing routine nuclear medicine procedures, optimizing patient positioning and technique, administering radiopharmaceuticals, ensuring immobilization and safe radiation practices in accordance with department policy and licensure requirements. Responsibilities
Performs all routine nuclear medicine procedures, demonstrates anatomy investigation through proper patient positioning, technique selection, administration of radiopharmaceuticals, application of immobilization and safe radiation practices in accordance to department policy and licensure requirements. Determines and orders appropriate radiopharmaceutical and administers dosage according to protocol. Obtains patient history, reviews patient condition and records dosage administered. Checks consultation request for special instructions, consults with radiologist as necessary, greets patients, confirms identification, introduces self, confirms procedure site and referring physician orders with patient, and explains examination procedure to patient and family if present. Updates patient history, completes screening and consent forms as required, records unusual conditions on request, documents examination time, room number and technical factors, and enters data into hospital information systems. Ensures accurate and prompt posting of procedure charges into hospital information systems according to department policy and procedures. Performs and records results of dose calibrations and surveys as required and assists physicist to ensure compliance with license requirements for radioactive materials. Performs visual preventive safety inspection, completes system warm-up, records quality control activities, and reports dangerous conditions or equipment malfunctions. Assists in interventional procedures as required and practices sterile and infection control techniques. Maintains inventory levels for assigned room or workstation, rotates stock, eliminates outdated items, and keeps work area clean and prepared with necessary supplies. Maintains all records required by policy or State and Federal Regulation related to ordering, receiving, storing, administering and handling radioactive materials and supplies. Works with management and radiation physicist to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements of the radioactive material license. Ensures patient screening procedures and forms are performed properly and reviewed/approved by the pharmacy or a radiologist. Qualifications
