Jewish Community Services (JCS) takes a population health approach to supporting the mental health and well-being of New York City’s Jewish community. JCS works to reduce stigma, prioritize prevention, and strengthen the resiliency of individuals, families, and communities. Key areas of focus include grief, addiction, and teen mental health initiatives. PURPOSE:

Reporting to the Deputy Director, the Senior Director of Operations provides leadership that results in robust and effective business operations and supports the services provided by JCS staff. POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Senior Director of Operations strengthens The Jewish Board’s ability to serve the Jewish community by ensuring the seamless integration of culturally competent services across the agency’s continuum of care and helping to address any challenges to access. KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Develop and oversee protocols, workflows, and performance metrics to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of Jewish-focused services across the agency. Collaborate with the marketing team to effectively promote Jewish-focused services and increase community engagement. Work with the central intake unit to streamline referral processes and ensure Jewish community members can easily access appropriate services. Partner with clinical teams to integrate culturally competent, Jewish-focused care within existing programs. Identify and address barriers to accessing services for the Jewish community. Develop strategies to increase outreach and engagement in underserved areas. Work closely on the development of a Jewish-specialty treatment team at one of the Jewish Board’s clinics. Work closely with a project manager to oversee the execution of key initiatives, ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope, and aligned with organizational goals. Provide operational leadership within JCS, optimizing internal processes, staffing structures, and resource allocation to enhance overall efficiency and impact. Partner with internal and external stakeholders to expand the reach and impact of Jewish-focused services. Establish tracking mechanisms and performance indicators to measure and report on the impact of Jewish-focused services. Key member of the JCS leadership team, participating in strategic priority goals and projects and providing coverage for other JCS services, as needed. Core Competencies Ability to develop and implement long-term plans that enhance operational efficiency and service delivery. Strong organizational skills to oversee multiple initiatives, set priorities, and meet deadlines. Skilled in working across departments and managing matrixed supervision to drive alignment and accountability. Ability to identify challenges, develop solutions, and implement process improvements. Uses performance metrics and analytics to evaluate program impact and inform strategic decisions. Deep understanding of Jewish community needs, values, and traditions to ensure culturally responsive services. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to navigate change, take initiative, think creatively and drive continuous improvement. EDUCATIONAL / TRAINING REQUIRED: Master’s degree in business administration, healthcare administration, social work, public health, or a related field. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED / LANGUAGE PREFERENCE: Minimum of 5 years of experience in operations management, preferably in a healthcare or social services setting. Strong cultural competence regarding Jewish religious, spiritual, cultural and communal practice. Requires proven skills in administration, verbal and written communication, computer applications, collection and use of data, inter-personal relationships, and staff supervision and training. COMPUTER SKILLS REQUIRED: Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office for documentation, data analysis, and presentations. Familiarity with data and analytic tools, such as Tableau. VISUAL AND MANUAL DEXTERITY: The candidate should be able to read paper and electronic documents and perform significant data entry into various computer programs. Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to travel independently using public transportation. WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL EFFORT: This role is hybrid; it will include travel to different Jewish Board locations across NYC. To perform the essential functions of this job the candidate must be able to travel within the five boroughs carrying equipment such as a notebook, forms, laptop, mobile hotspot and cell phone weighing up to approximately 10 pounds. To perform the essential functions of this job, the incumbent is routinely required to sit (80% of the time) and stand (20% of the time).
