Sr. MEP Cost Estimator
to join our
Commercial & Institutional – CES Team
at our
Boston, MA; Brooklyn, NY; or Albany, NY
office. YOUR IMPACT The CHA cost estimating team delivers high-quality, accurate cost consulting services to owners, architects, and construction managers at any stage from conceptual design through construction documents. The Sr. MEP Cost Estimator is responsible for creating and executing comprehensive, detailed and accurate cost estimates. The professional in this role will review the Cost Estimating Team’s products to ensure timely delivery and detailed thoroughness of scope, accounting for complexity of construction operations and accuracy of pricing. The Sr. MEP Cost Estimator collaborates on multiple projects in a timely and cost-effective manner to meet client requirements and present cost estimates. Additionally, the Sr. MEP Cost Estimator will provide feedback, mentoring, and training to Cost Estimating team members. Requirements
B.S. degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil or Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent field experience; Quantity Surveying Degree preferred A minimum of 10 years of Cost Estimating experience Electrical discipline experience A minimum of 5 years of Quantity Surveyor experience preferred Advanced user of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel Quantification utilizing On Center On-Screen Takeoff Software from design documents Familiarity with AutoDesk software is preferred Advanced knowledge of General Construction industry laws, regulations, policies, and practices Cost implications of local and national building codes Knowledge of public and private construction process and procurement Ability to work independently, and collaboratively interface within a Team Value management (“value engineering”) practices High level of accuracy in cost estimating, as verified by bid returns Expert-level ability to read and understand design documents Ability to complete quantity takeoffs, even with partial information, for all levels of design (including conceptual) Analysis and reporting of labor productivity, historical cost data, and life-cycle costs Estimate reconciliation with independent cost estimators and construction manager’s estimators Ability to track project cost estimates throughout the design process Broad experience interfacing with clients, potential clients, vendors, and business partners with excellent communication and relationship-building skills Effective and clear communication in the presentation of information to and response to questions from clients, management, and colleagues LEED certification and/or Sustainable Design standards and requirements is preferred Salary Range $118,000 - $142,000 CULTURE/EEO STATEMENT We as an organization celebrate the values of inclusion and equality, and advocate for the full participation of all people in an environment free of discrimination.
