Job Description
The Managing Director, Transaction Advisory Services (Special Projects) will advise clients on U.S. federal income tax issues associated with mergers and acquisitions. The role will involve technical tax work, including structuring and restructuring, consolidated return subsidiary share basis and earnings and profits analyses, Section 1202, and transaction cost analyses. The Managing Director will serve as the primary client contact for technical tax work and will interface with professionals in the firm to drive technological innovation with respect to Section 382 analyses. Responsibilities will include working with BDO counterparts in India to increase capacity for Section 382 consulting, training the TAS team and overall tax practice, and improving BDO’s deliverables, tools, and templates related to Section 382. Key Responsibilities: Advise clients on U.S. federal income tax issues associated with mergers and acquisitions Perform technical tax work, including structuring and restructuring, consolidated return subsidiary share basis and earnings and profits analyses, Section 1202, and transaction cost analyses Serve as primary client contact for technical tax work Interface with professionals in the firm to drive technological innovation with respect to Section 382 analyses Work with BDO counterparts in India to increase capacity for Section 382 consulting Train the TAS team and overall tax practice on Section 382 tax technical topics Improve BDO’s deliverables, tools, and templates related to Section 382 Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics Juris Doctor (JD) or Master of Laws (LLM) with a focus on Tax, preferred 10+ years of prior relevant tax experience and/or public accounting, private industry accounting, or legal experience Knowledge of Section 382, consolidated return regulations, and Section 1202 CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction), Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (“EA”), or the equivalent of one of these designations What We Offer: BDO is an Equal Opportunity Employer and offers a competitive salary range of $250,000 to $350,000.
