The
Site Quality Director
is responsible for planning, implementing, assuring, and continuously improving the site’s Quality and Business Management System (QMS/BMS) to meet stakeholder expectations and maintain certification and regulatory approvals, including ISO 9001, AS9100, and applicable aviation safety regulations. This role ensures product safety, quality, and customer satisfaction through zero-defect planning, delivery excellence, and support for risk management, problem-solving, and quality improvement initiatives. The Director also provides governance, guidance, and leadership to embed a culture of quality across the site, drive compliance, and support business objectives through COPQ reduction and structured problem-solving methods such as 8D, RCCA, and A3. What You'll Do
Leadership
Partner with site leadership to foster a strong Quality culture and provide governance and assurance leadership. Coach teams on GKN Aerospace Global Standards and tailor local QMS/BMS processes to support business objectives. Manage Quality resources, capability development, and act as the escalation point for delegated Quality authorities. Represent the site in all Quality-related matters with customers, certifying bodies, and aerospace authorities. Systems
Lead the planning, deployment, and continuous improvement of the site’s QMS/BMS, ensuring compliance with industry standards, aviation regulations, and APMS. Oversee system hosting, process controls, and training for personnel using or defining QMS/BMS functions. Monitor and act on Quality KPIs, including Quality Escapes and Cost of Poor Quality, to drive performance. Analyze QMS/BMS data (e.g., process performance, CA timeliness, trends) to inform management reviews and business decisions. Compliance
Plan and execute internal, customer, and third-party audits, ensuring resolution of findings and successful outcomes. Lead product and process audits, including risk/opportunity analysis, to ensure product safety and conformity. Manage systemic risk related to Quality, escalating issues to leadership and coordinating mitigation actions. What You Bring
Required: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Engineering, Business, or Quality Management—or equivalent experience. 10+ years in quality leadership within aerospace or complex manufacturing. Working knowledge in ISO 9001, AS9100, and aviation regulatory standards. Strong command of Lean, APQP, and risk-based thinking. Proven audit leadership using IAQG OASIS and Nadcap eAuditnet databases. Exceptional communication and influence skills in a matrixed environment. US Person with ability to work under ITAR compliance standards. Preferred: Experience with AS13100 and aviation design/manufacturing regulations (Part 21G, Part J, Part 145). Six Sigma certification and continuous improvement leadership. Familiarity with IAQG SCMH, APQC frameworks, and AATT/IRCA AS9100/AS9110 training.
