Set and communicate team priorities that support the broader organization's goals. Align strategy, processes and decision making across teams. Set clear expectations with individuals based on level, role and alignment to the broader organization's goals. Meet regularly with individuals to discuss performance and development, provide feedback and coach. Develop the mid-term technical roadmap within the scope of your often multiple teams. Evolve the roadmap to meet anticipated future requirements and infrastructure needs. Define and execute technical strategy for achieving industry leading price and performance of SQL query processing for a variety of workloads, from Online Transaction Processing (OLTP) to hybrid transactional, problem solving multimodal queries that combine relational, graph, full-text and vector search criteria. Lead a team of 7-8 engineers across query planning and execution. Own performance and reliability goals inside spanner\'s distributed query engine. Minimum qualifications

Bachelor\'s degree or equivalent practical experience. 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript). 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role, overseeing projects, with 2 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role. 3 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure or distributed systems. Preferred qualifications

Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. 3 years of experience working in a matrixed organization. Experience in developing query processing engines for a SQL relational database or large-scale distributed systems. Experience in distributed computing. About the job

This team’s core mission is to manage metadata for all BigQuery services and managed data sources at scale. You will be responsible for reliably storing, replicating and efficiently resolving this metadata while ensuring high performance, enterprise-grade features and a reduced operational burden. Salary and benefits: The US base salary range for this full-time position is $197,000-$291,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay within the range is determined by work location and factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
