Regulatory Affairs Manager role at The Hartz Mountain Corporation. This position is hybrid (Secaucus, NJ) and focuses on regulatory compliance for pesticide products in North America, serving as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies. The Role
Manage regulatory and label compliance for pesticides in North America (US state and federal agencies and Canada), including product registrations, renewals, adverse effect tracking and reporting, product labeling, and related activities with the relevant regulatory agencies. Develop understanding of testing protocols and requirements needed to create and facilitate submissions and registration approvals by the regulating Agency. Collaborate with outside Canadian and Mexican consultants (with Sumitomo staff) to manage submissions including new applications, amendments, formulation changes, etc. Manage federal and state registrations, amendments, and renewals of pesticide products. Monitor EPA database, Federal Register and Trade Association Press to analyze competitor products and ensure Hartz is appropriately credited for data used by competitors to obtain registrations. Enhance knowledge of adverse effects regulations, manage adverse effects reporting by working with Safety Call to prepare submissions, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and international regulatory requirements. Investigate and resolve compliance issues, questions, or complaints from internal departments, external customers, and government agencies. Assist in the development, review, and approval of advertising and product label copy. Stay current with legislative changes, new guidance documents, and review activities related to products. Represent the organization in industry trade associations, build networks, and advise Marketing, Management, and R&D about emerging issues and regulation changes that could affect marketability of Hartz products. Contribute to the development and approval of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for pesticide products, adhering to compliance standards. Participate on the docket review committee to evaluate and approve all public information concerning pesticides. You’ll Need
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Entomology, or related field with 5+ years’ experience in Regulatory Compliance/Affairs in the EPA-regulated products industry; pet products experience strongly preferred. Pesticide Knowledge:
Experience registering new pesticide products and dossier preparation. Strong knowledge of USA federal pesticide registration requirements and processes; Canadian registration knowledge is a plus. Regulations and Compliance:
Ability to interpret government regulations and complex situations to uncover strategic opportunities while ensuring compliance. System Proficiency:
Proficiency with NPIRS and PPLS. Problem-solving:
Strong analytical and conceptual skills to address complex regulatory scenarios. Negotiation and Communication:
Ability to communicate, negotiate, and influence in cross-functional environments with attention to detail. Leadership and Project Management:
Self-motivated with ability to manage, teach, and motivate others; experience managing multiple projects simultaneously. Time Management:
Creative and results-oriented, able to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality work. Travel:
Willingness to travel (5%). Technical Proficiency:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Animal Feed Regulatory Knowledge:
Knowledge or training in animal feed regulatory compliance is a plus. The anticipated salary range for this role is between $135,000 and $150,000. The specific salary offered will depend on qualifications and experience. This role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award.
