Overview

Director, Perioperative Services at Adventist Health Portland. Adventist Health Portland’s Surgical Services includes general, bariatric, cardiovascular/open heart, ENT, gastroenterological, gynecological, neurological, ophthalmological, orthopedic, peripheral vascular, thoracic, and urological services. The department operates with 24/7 oversight and is expanding its operation and service line, including two Da Vinci Xi Robots and advanced cardiovascular services. Responsibilities

Direct 24-hour management of assigned nursing units and departments to ensure delivery of quality nursing care. Plan, organize, lead and evaluate nursing services within areas of specialty; provide leadership to achieve strategic and operational objectives. Direct and oversee activities of various levels of assigned personnel using professional and supervisory discretion and independent judgment. Develop and promote professional growth and performance improvement activities; participate in development and presentation of programs related to Surgery, Outpatient Surgery Unit, Post Anesthesia Care Unit, Medical Ambulatory Care Unit, GI Labs and Central Sterile Processing. Meet the needs of all age groups (infancy through geriatrics) and ensure quality service, outcomes, patient satisfaction; project volume and resource needs; conduct cost analyses and monitor budgets and variances. Monitor and adjust human and material resource utilization; collaborate with finance and other business personnel to develop new program initiatives. Lead hiring processes, coaching, discipline, performance management; establish staffing and scheduling to ensure competencies for optimum patient care. Maintain 24-hour accountability for patient care, unit operations and personnel management; provide leadership for fiscal control, quality service, staff development and physician relations. Direct and implement other job-related duties as assigned. Qualifications

Education and Work Experience: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Required Master's Degree: Preferred Seven years' technical experience: Preferred Five years' leadership experience: Preferred Clinical background and experience working in the Operating Room/Surgery: Strongly Preferred Pre-Op and Post Surgical knowledge: Preferred Perioperative Educator, policy writing and curriculum experience: Strongly Preferred Licenses/Certifications: Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice: Required Organizational Requirements
