Under the general direction of the Senior Psychiatrist (Supervisor), the Staff Psychiatrist in Mental Health Services is a member of an Interdisciplinary Treatment Team providing general population outpatient services to inmates. The Team includes other psychiatrists, psychologists, and psychiatric social workers assigned to a Service Area. Responsibilities include psychiatric evaluations, participation in treatment planning and case reviews, prescribing medications, and providing crisis intervention and psychotherapy. The staff psychiatrist also provides consultations and training in treatment approaches to clinical and custody staff of the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team. Important Administrative Details
Effective July 1, 2025, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) requires each full-time employee in Bargaining Unit 16 and related employees to have their base salary reduced by 4.62% and to receive 8 PLP 2025 leave credits monthly for at least 16 months. Salaries do not reflect the recent changes. Part-time employees are subject to the same conditions on a prorated basis. This Job Control is listed Until Filled. Eligibility for a $10,000 one-time recruitment and retention stipend, and a monthly recruitment and retention differential during the first year (totaling $5,000), may apply if criteria are met. There may be a $5,000 referral bonus for CDCR/CCHCS employees selected for hire and remaining employed for 90 days, subject to completing a pre-employment questionnaire with details from the referring employee.
