Physician-Pediatric Infectious Disease

Renown Health Position Purpose Physician shall provide clinical services to patients who are appropriate for the scope of a pediatric infectious disease physician including but not limited to illnesses that are of unclear cause, have prolonged fever, or are recurrent, respiratory infections, bone and joint infections, tuberculosis (TB), acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), hepatitis, or meningitis. Physician shall provide regular clinical coverage, inpatient consultation and emergency department consultation, as needed. Physician will be expected to collaborate with and supervise mid-level providers. Physician can expect to have patient visits and physician consultation using telemedicine. A component of the physician’s time will be allocated to teaching residents and medical students as appropriate. Compensation expectations for pediatric specialists within Renown Health include meeting quality metrics through documentation, timely closure of charts, maintaining high patient satisfaction scores, and meeting citizenship expectations as a colleague and teacher. Physician will meet with Pediatrician-in-Chief to review these expectations twice yearly. Nature and Scope The incumbent obtains history, examines, diagnoses, counsels, and treats patients within the physician’s area of specialty and experience. The incumbent makes critical decisions regarding medical care. The incumbent works closely and in cooperation with the management staff, directs comments and questions to the appropriate management person and follows administrative policies. The incumbent actively participates in physician governance meetings, management decisions, and follows policies adopted by Renown Health and its medical staff. The incumbent stays abreast of current advances in medicine by reviewing recent publications, attending in-services and educational meetings, and attending continuing medical education programs in the appropriate field. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to function effectively in an integrated delivery system.
Knowledge of Federal, State, and local regulatory rules. Capable of operating business units in conformance with good quality and business practices as may be outlined by agencies such as The Joint Commission, NCQA, MGMA, etc. Effective leadership skills (and leading by example). Ability to obtain results with minimal disruption while involving a variety of internal and external groups. Ability to work independently. Education:
Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English. Experience:
Prior experience in referenced specialty, preferred. License(s):
Must possess and maintain a current and valid State of Nevada Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic (DO) medicine license. Controlled substance License to Prescribe issued by the State of Nevada and Controlled Substance Registration Certificate issued by the DEA, required. Certification(s):
Board-Eligible or Board-Certified in Pediatric Infectious Disease through the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP). If Provider is Board Eligible at time of hire, Certification must be obtained within two (2) years of employment. This requirement may be extended, with specific hardship documentation, by the Physician-in-Chief of the Children's Hospital. Computer / Typing:
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word and have the ability to use the computer to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
