Department: 405-Campus Mailroom
Duties and Responsibilities
Deliver mail and packages on campus in accordance with established and ongoing university standards. Sort and tie down mail and packages to prepare for delivery. Operate package tracking system. Follow parcel and mail handling procedures in accordance with departmental processes. Assure 100% chain of custody as related to package handling. Safely operate a motor vehicle as required and in accordance with PA State driving laws.
Effectively and efficiently deliver mail and packages to campus buildings while adhering to published routes and safety procedures.
Pick up outgoing mail and packages.
Maintain timely prompt delivery and completion of routes.
Operate package tracking system to assure compliance with related procedures and processes.
Capture a legible scan or signature to confirm delivery.
Maintain knowledge of all campus mail routes so as to serve as backup to other route drivers.
Advise management of route changes, customer requests, and vehicle maintenance requirements.
Utilize technology to assure chain of custody accountability is maintained.
Provide feedback and rationale route planning and process development to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of the department.
Work inside to assist with mail and package sorting and scanning.
Assist with student package processing and distribution as needed and directed.
Maintain knowledge of Mail Services operations to effectively answer customer questions.
Use a box truck to deliver bulk mail to the post office.
Perform additional duties and assist with projects as assigned.
Accept and perform special assignments as directed by Manager such as special pick up and deliveries not necessarily mail related or on published routes.
Minimum Qualifications
Must be organized and detail-oriented with good customer service skills and a positive, friendly approach and demeanor.
Must be able to accept and complete directives effectively and in a timely fashion.
Working knowledge of mail and package handling.
Knowledge of email, basic PC, and knowledge of operation and functionality of scanning system and related hardware.
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Preferred Qualifications
1-3 years of driving delivery experience
Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours
Walking while carrying mail and packages, pushing hand truck and postal hamper loaded with packages. Daily use of an elevator and stairs.
Extended periods of standing and sitting. Lift capacity 50lbs.
The position requires occasional Saturday hours and extended shifts during the start of the school year.
Deliveries are made in all types of weather
