The Felician Sisters of North America is seeking a full-time Director of Nursing in Chicago who will plan and oversee the day-to-day health services and nursing activities for the Care Center and for all sisters living in Our Lady of Angels Convent. This position ensures quality, person-centered resident care and adherence to facility policies, procedures, and standards as well as applicable regulations. Responsibilities Of The Director Of Nursing (DON)
Set and monitor achievement of goals for the Nursing Department consistent with established philosophy and standards of practice. Participate in the development of Nursing Service’s standards. Responsible for meeting required department staffing ratios. Schedule, direct, and document regular meetings with the nursing staff. Provide in-service education sessions on a regular basis. Oversee Restorative, Wounds Prevention, and Infection Control Programs. Assess resident care needs and assist in the individualized plans of resident care and make recommendations for specialized rehabilitation. Coordinate the daily functions of the nursing department and interact with nursing staff, families, and physicians. Assist with assessment of residents, including hospital visits for intake as appropriate. Make regular nursing rounds to review work in progress, evaluate resident care and handle routine nursing matters necessary to facilitate operations. Evaluate resident’s needs, condition, and care and develop nursing care plans for individual residents. Assist with the investigation of complex resident care problems and assists staff in the analysis and resolution of such problems. Assists with the development, implementation, and monitoring of any plans of correction. Assist the Administrator with employee relations to include recruitment, orientation, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, terminations, job description updates, training, staff development, and enforcement of policies and procedures. Education And Experience
Minimum of 10 years of experience as a Registered Nurse (RN). Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in healthcare/nursing. Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in good standing required in the state of Illinois or willingness to apply for licensure in the state of Illinois. Comprehensive supervisory experience, including hiring, employee disciplines, performance evaluations, staff scheduling, and staff engagement. Additional education or experience in such areas as rehabilitative or geriatric nursing is preferred. Possesses strong knowledge of state, federal, and local regulations as they pertain to long-term care. A graduate of an accredited school of nursing is required.
