Recursion is seeking a highly collaborative, strategic translational biology leader to guide preclinical data generation and clinical biomarker programs. The goal is to identify and validate innovative drugs with definitive clinical response; leverage model systems, endpoints with high clinical predictive power, and high-fidelity biomarkers to enable early decision-making and accelerate development timelines. In This Role, You Will

Enable Recursion to be a leader in precision medicine by delivering excellence in translational research and developing preclinical data packages to support impactful clinical development programs. Partner with AI and machine learning experts to develop predictive and computational tools, integrating real-world evidence, big data/omics, and advanced analytics into preclinical decision-making. Collaborate with project teams and the clinical biomarker team to identify and generate a robust biomarker strategy for programs entering the clinic. Shape and implement the preclinical translational strategy, including model system development/validation and translational research for internal and partnered assets. Provide senior scientific, strategic, and people leadership to a team of scientists; foster a culture of scientific excellence, collaboration, and talent development. Oversee the development of clinically relevant translational models, manage multiple projects/workstreams, and assess workloads, timelines, and budgets to ensure delivery. Qualifications

Ph.D. required; M.Sc. acceptable with 15+ years of relevant experience. Degree in biological sciences or related biomedical discipline. At least 10 years of pharmaceutical experience (15+ with an M.Sc.). Oncology experience with deep understanding of cancer biology and early clinical development. Proven track record of advancing programs from preclinical discovery into clinical development, especially translational research for small molecule drugs. Leadership: ability to lead interdisciplinary, cross-functional teams; manage multiple projects to deliver high quality work on time and on budget. Strategic thinking: knowledge of preclinical drug discovery models; ability to synthesize science and strategy for senior management. Communication: strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills with diverse stakeholders. Detail-oriented with strong planning, time management, and organizational skills. Translational knowledge: deep understanding of drug discovery and development; experience in clinical biomarker discovery and analysis of single-cell data is a plus. Working Location

This is an office-based, hybrid role in our Salt Lake City / New York City office. Employees are expected to work in the office at least 50% of the time. Some travel to collaborate with teams in Salt Lake City, New York, Oxford, and London is required. Compensation & Benefits

Based on the required skill and experience, the estimated current annual base salary range is

$190,300 - $246,400 (USD) . You will also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and a comprehensive benefits package. Values & About Recursion
