Welcomes patients and visitors by greeting them, in person or on the telephone, answering or referring inquiries. Utilizes electronic health record for tasks assigned and follow established workflows. Handles patient calls and effectively manages schedule. Evaluates daily schedules to accommodate patient flow and minimize missed appointments. Check patients in by verifying demographics and insurance. Collects co-pays and patient payments. Checks patients out and makes follow up appointments as indicated. Comforts patients by anticipating patient's anxieties; answering patients' questions; maintaining the reception area. Maintains business office inventory and equipment by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; scheduling equipment service and repairs. Helps patients in distress by responding to emergencies. Protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information. Maintains operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed Take Direction and initiate actions (cross/additional training) that will allow the assumption of cross-functional duties to ensure seamless patient care. Consistently demonstrate ability to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner in order to meet current needs, such as reprioritizing work as necessary. Minimize non-productive time and fill slow periods with activities that will enable you to prepare to meet the future needs of the System (education, organizing, housekeeping and assisting others). Organize job functions and work area to be able to effectively complete varied assignments within established time frames. Maintains a cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport; participating in team problem-solving methods. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED). 0 to 2 years' experience in a medical office setting.
