Overview

Senior Diagnostic Medical Sonographer II, San Diego, 21 Hrs, Day Under indirect supervision, performs a variety of diagnostic medical sonographic examinations (such as abdominal and OB/Gynecology ultrasound examinations) utilizing complex ultrasound equipment and transducers. Essential Responsibilities

Demonstrates patient care and professional behavior; responsive to the needs of others and maintains a positive image for the department. Resolves member issues with initiative and handles a high number of member contacts; provides compassionate service and constructive handling of complaints. Demonstrates competency in department operations including reception duties and cashier functions; observes regional radiation and department safety policies. Adjusts technical factors and patient positioning relative to study requirements and patient age/body habitus; handles infants and geriatric patients with care to minimize exposure. Operates diagnostic ultrasound equipment (real-time and mobile) to obtain quality diagnostic images; selects appropriate transducers and settings per protocol and patient characteristics. Documents patient history and clinical activities promptly and accurately; completes consultation forms and radiology processing records following each procedure. Communicates with radiologists and other clinicians as needed; consults to clarify orders and selects additional views when appropriate. Routinely documents exams and ensures images are properly processed and stored; maintains infection control practices for ultrasound imaging. Leads and coordinates workflow; provides feedback to management and ensures exams are performed in a timely manner. Experience

Basic Qualifications: N/A. Education

Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited ultrasound program or a Diagnostic Medical Sonography program with two years of experience as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer in a major medical center. High School Diploma or GED required. Licensure, Certification, Registration

Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certificates – Abdomen, Breast, and Ob-Gyn from ARDMS. Basic Life Support within 3 months of hire. Additional Requirements

Competency in abdomen, abdomen Doppler, small parts, thyroid, obstetrics/gynecology, amniocenteses, fetal echocardiography, interventional procedures, breast studies, portable intra-operative studies, and portable neonatal studies. Preferred Qualifications

Three years of experience as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer in a major medical center. Experience with Acuson Sequoia, Philips iu-22 and Clickview ultrasound reporting package. Notes

South senior to include 2 days as senior and one day as a sonographer; shifts/locations may vary based on department needs. Scheduled work hours per week will be 20-32. Seniority level
