As a Senior Principal Systems Engineer in our software organization, you will play a pivotal role in developing cutting-edge healthcare solutions that enhance patient care and meet the highest regulatory standards. Your expertise will directly impact the development and sustainability of our Infusion Pump Platforms, ensuring that we deliver exceptional products that truly make a difference in the lives of patients and healthcare providers. What You'll Be Doing In this dynamic role, you will: Drive Innovation : Implement best practices in software systems development and product lifecycles, collaborating closely with our talented development team to push the boundaries of what's possible in healthcare technology.

Lead with Expertise : Serve as a technical leader, providing guidance and constructive feedback to team members on their technical work, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.

Solve Complex Challenges : Develop innovative technical solutions to intricate software system problems, delivering high-quality results on tight schedules that meet the demands of our fast-paced environment.

Collaborate Across Functions : Lead cross-functional teams, including Commercial and Clinical stakeholders, to translate user needs into precise system requirements, ensuring that our products align with real-world applications.

Manage Risk Effectively : Conduct comprehensive risk analysis activities for software, identifying inherent hazards and implementing effective mitigation strategies to safeguard our products and users.

Define Testing Strategies : Work alongside verification engineers to establish robust test strategies for the development of verification and validation plans, utilizing requirement tracing methods to ensure compliance and quality.

Participate in Design Reviews : Engage in software design reviews for components and features, contributing your insights to enhance product functionality and user experience.

Agile Planning and Execution : Utilize your agile planning skills to estimate, schedule, and complete committed tasks, ensuring that projects stay on track and within scope.

Enhance Collaboration : Drive collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, empowering the team to adopt better processes, practices, and technical mentorship, while transforming software requirements into effective test architectures.

Interface with Key Teams : Collaborate with manufacturing, service, and customer training staff throughout the design transfer process, ensuring seamless integration and support for our products.

Ensure Compliance : Uphold the highest standards of compliance with product development processes and quality systems, contributing to our commitment to excellence in healthcare solutions.

What You'll Bring To thrive in this role, you should possess: A Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, complemented by 10+ years of experience in systems engineering or a related field.

Experience with electro-mechanical devices is preferred, showcasing your ability to bridge software and hardware solutions.

A background in agile development, with hands-on experience in creating and maintaining product backlogs.

Exceptional oral and written communication skills, enabling you to articulate complex ideas clearly and effectively.

Familiarity with working in a regulated industry, demonstrating your understanding of compliance and quality assurance processes.

Excellent documentation skills, ensuring that all technical specifications and processes are meticulously recorded and maintained.

Baxter is committed to supporting the needs for flexibility in the workplace. We do so through our flexible workplace policy which includes a required minimum number of days a week onsite. This policy provides the benefits of connecting and collaborating in-person in support of our Mission. The flexible workplace policy is subject to local laws and legal requirements. At its discretion, Baxter may decide to adjust, suspend, or discontinue as business needs change. The estimated base salary for this position is $128,000 to $176,000 annually. Individual pay is based on location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
