Job Description Economists at Amazon partner closely with senior management, business stakeholders, scientists, engineers, and economist leadership to solve key business problems across various domains including Amazon Web Services, Kindle, Prime, inventory planning, international retail, third-party merchants, search, pricing, labor and employment planning, and benefits management. Amazon Economists build econometric models using our world-class data systems and apply a variety of approaches—applied macro/time series, microeconometrics, empirical IO, health, labor, public economics, and related fields. You will work in a fast-moving environment to solve business problems as part of a cross-functional team or a central science and economics organization. Your responsibilities include developing econometric techniques for large datasets, addressing quantitative problems, and contributing to the automation of systems across the company. Basic Qualifications PhD in economics or equivalent Preferred Qualifications 5+ years of relevant research experience after PhD or equivalent Deep knowledge of econometric analysis involving fundamental preferences and strategic effects Experience analyzing pricing, competition, labor decisions, healthcare outcomes, auctions, marketing, advertising, contract design, and game theory Strong background in statistics and big data applications Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Strong research record Effective communication skills for diverse audiences Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and considers qualified applicants regardless of veteran status, disability, or other protected categories.
