The Cardiology II department with Bryn Mawr Medical Specialists Association (BMMSA) is in need of a full-time Medical Scribe/Medical Assistant to join their growing team. The ideal candidate will have experience with documenting patient encounters, capturing medical histories, and maintaining medical records. This position will work 3 days as a Medical Scribe and 2 days as a Medical Assistant. Responsibilities:
Listens to voice recordings of physicians and other healthcare professionals' patient visit notes, and diagnoses, and converts them into written reports Transcribes and interprets the dictation into diagnostic test results, operative reports, referral letters, and other documents Interprets medical terminology, and abbreviations in preparing patients' medical histories and discharge summaries Identifies and corrects inconsistencies, errors, and missing information within a report that could compromise patient care Alerts physician when medical record is incomplete or medical documentation contains mistakes or inconsistencies Complies with all legal and ethical requirements for medical documentation Collects, organizes, and catalogs data for physician quality reporting system and other quality initiatives to increase patient compliance and improve outcomes Performs clerical tasks as needed by the physician including faxing, phone calls, referral letters Documents medical visits and procedures as they are being performed by the physician accurately and thoroughly Transcribes, reviews and inputs dictation for a variety of medical reports such as patient histories, consultation, or discharge summaries Translates medical jargon and abbreviations into their expanded forms Produces medical reports, records, statistics, and administrative material Identifies and returns any record errors to physician for correction Experience, Qualifications, and Education:
Proven experience as a Medical Scribe or in a similar role Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills Knowledge of medical terminology and ability to quickly learn new medical concepts Proficient in using electronic medical record systems Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality
