National Presbyterian Church (NPC), located on a 12-acre campus at 4101 Nebraska Ave, NW, Washington, DC, is an active congregation comprised of 1300 members who come from across the metro DC area, and also includes a thriving on-line worship community. NPC is searching for a Director of Connections Ministries to develop and guide a program that engages members of the congregation and helps them foster connections to each other and the Church’s missions. It is a full-time position that reports to the Associate Pastor of Care, manages the Membership Office and the Welcome Team ministry, and works closely with the church’s Care, Grow, Serve, and Worship ministries. The successful candidate is a caring, friendly, people-oriented person with excellent communication and interpersonal skills that include active listening, empathy, building rapport and fostering connections with guests, congregants, pastors, and staff. The Director of Connections is a visionary leader who knows how to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, effectively manage deadlines, use technology effectively and proactively, build and maintain effective relationships among staff and recruits, and collaborates with a team of volunteers. The position is full-time and includes a comprehensive benefits package. Responsibilities Works with all ministries, (Care, Grow, Serve, and Worship) to provide guests and members with opportunities to engage in the life of the church and its missions. Oversees the Membership Office and recruits and directs volunteers for the Welcome Team Ministry to foster a welcoming culture at NPC. Monitors worship attendance and contacts those who have not recently attended worship. Ensures that the organization’s database is maintained accurately and used in a proactive manner to support church ministries. Coordinates and facilitates New Member events and New Member Sundays throughout the year. Recruits volunteer leaders to assist pastors in teaching and hosting receptions. Supervises the management of Guest Ministry and welcome and follow-up systems. Manages materials for those attending worship for the first time and those who attend regularly. Manages systems and materials for activities relating to new and prospective members. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university Technology and computer skills, Microsoft Office and ability to learn the Church’s CCB database software programs. 4 to 6 years of experience in a church environment (or similar experience) Caring, warm, open personal style with experience building relationships throughout the Church community
