Job Summary The College of Nursing at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking an hourly/part-time Adjunct Instructor. The successful candidate will: Teach and/or supervise students in clinical specialty areas (Medical-Surgical, Pediatric, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Mental/Behavioral Health, and Community Health Nursing). Orient students to the patient care unit, hospital/agency policies, procedures, and appropriate patient record and documentation systems. Conduct clinical pre and post conferences with students to the specific roles and responsibilities; assign students to patients, review clinical objectives and criteria with students and assign students to interpersonal case presentations. Provide and guide students as it relates to the College of Nursing clinical policies; evaluate students clinical performance and submit these to the Clinical Coordinator. Communicate with the Clinical Coordinator, Program Director(s), Director of Clinical Services and Associate Dean for Transformational Education. Required Qualifications New York State Registered Nurse and/or Nurse Practitioner License. Master's Degree. 2 to 4 years of continuous clinical nursing experience. Preferred Qualifications Clinical undergraduate and graduate-level teaching experience preferred.
