Senior Principal Software Engineer - AI GPU Innovation at Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). You will work on evaluating, prototyping, and optimizing cutting-edge AI hardware and software to drive next-gen Cloud AI Infrastructure platforms. You will interact with hardware and software teams, third-party GPU suppliers, and internal partners to shape Oracle’s AI Cloud platform solutions. Career Level - IC5. Base pay
$96,800.00/yr - $251,600.00/yr Responsibilities
Evaluate system architecture and proposed implementation paths. Collaborate with hardware design and development teams on architecture, implementation, deployment, and troubleshooting of AI hardware platforms; interface with Oracle engineering, operations, and external partners. Conduct benchmarking and performance analysis of AI accelerators from emerging vendors and compare with industry-standard hardware for training and inference workloads. Develop tools and processes for evaluating hardware performance in real-world AI applications. Contribute to the design and improvement of performance optimization algorithms for AI models running on hardware. Qualifications
BS or MS in Computer Science or related field or equivalent practical experience. 10+ years of software development experience. Proven ability to write code in Java, GoLang, C#, or similar OO languages. Solid knowledge of AI / GPU platform architectures and capabilities. Experience with large-scale, highly distributed services infrastructure. Experience with GPU supplier test code and open-source AI test/characterization tools. Experience with architecture, design, and implementation of modern server platforms across multiple architectures and vendors (x86 and ARM). Experience debugging and root-causing complex hardware/software issues. Strong problem-solving, communication, ownership, and data-driven decision making. Preferred Qualifications
Technical lead experience on a large-scale cloud service. Hands-on experience developing and maintaining services on public cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Oracle). Experience with AI accelerator chips (e.g., SambaNova, Groq). Knowledge of AI accelerator benchmarks and tools (e.g., MLPerf, DeepBench). Understanding of AI model optimization techniques for hardware acceleration. Experience running firmware and system diagnostics tools using BMC, UEFI/BIOS, and Linux tooling; scripting for test customization. Benefits and compensation
