International City/County Management Association (ICMA) Veterans . This is an exciting opportunity to work in South Carolina’s oldest inland City with a rich history and heritage. The City of Camden, with a population of over 8,000 within 11 square miles, is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Finance Director. The FY 2025 annual budget is $56 million. The Finance Director is responsible for organizing, directing, and managing all accounting and financial operations of the City of Camden. This includes; overall financial management and operating, accounting, reporting, budgeting, payroll, procurement, debt issuance, compliance, management, internal auditing and financial record keeping. Responsibilities
Organize, direct, and manage all accounting and financial operations of the City of Camden. Oversee financial management, reporting, budgeting, payroll, procurement, debt issuance, compliance, management, internal auditing, and financial record keeping. Provide strategic guidance and direction for core financial functions of the City of Camden. Demonstrate leadership and management of finance functions within a public/governmental organization. Identify and implement innovative approaches that foster collaboration, teamwork, staff initiative, and address budget questions with diplomacy and tact. Communicate effectively in writing and orally, delegate, mentor, and provide strategic, thoughtful leadership. Maintain attention to detail while aligning daily work with the city’s long-term vision. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, accounting or related field from an accredited university; plus five (5) years of diversified finance experience, including at least two (2) years in an administrative capacity. Master’s degree, CPA or Certified Local Government Finance Officer preferred. Extensive knowledge of accounting software; working knowledge of budgetary accounting and reporting systems, GAAFR, GAAP, and GASB. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Valid South Carolina Driver’s License or ability to obtain within 60 days of relocation. Compensation & Benefits
The hiring range for the Finance Director is $85,000 to $100,000 depending on experience and qualifications. The City provides a competitive state benefits package including health, dental and vision insurance, short-term disability, South Carolina Retirement System (SCRS), and a phone stipend.
