Assistant Controller Position Overview
The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the general ledger operations within the organization, managing staff and ensuring accuracy of the financial reporting. Assist in reconciling and analyzing the financial operation of PVA and its entities. Manages vendor risk, procurement and contracting processes. Assist the Assistant Controller role as needed. Reporting directly to the Assistant Controller. Supervises Senior & Staff Accountants. Position Responsibilities and Duties
Oversee daily accounting operations including accounts payable/receivable, and general ledger activities Monitor and reconcile the components of the general ledger on a continual and timely basis to ensure accuracy and validity of account balances Perform monthly activities including: Review and approve bank reconciliations Prepare fixed assets, equipment & lease amortization schedules Post journal entries Coordinate and review all monthly trial balance account reconciliations for month end close Prepare the first draft of monthly financial statements to verify balances Facilitate changes as necessary in Martus Solutions related to program/department monthly finance reports and budgets Review payroll on a bi-weekly basis and serve as backup for payroll Perform risk assessment of key vendors, partnering with Directors to prepare initial assessments of inherent and business risks, preparing recommendations to the CFO and monitoring high-risk vendors Manage/lead Senior and Staff Accountants Prepare and ensure that various annual audit lead schedules are accurate and provided on a timely basis Prepare and ensure various schedules for annual 990 preparation Administrator for Intacct, Bill.com, Concur, and BOA Cash Pro Performs additional tasks and undertakes specific projects assigned to support the Finance department Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree required in Accounting, Finance, or related field At least three years of nonprofit or government experience Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly with Excel and Pivot tables Minimum of two years of supervisory experience Working knowledge of tax laws and GAAP At least five years of related experience in Accounting or Finance Strong communication skills, both written and verbal Strong organizational, stress management skills and attention to detail Excellent problem solving and analytical skills Ability to work with little to no supervision Ability to analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines 15% travel required Sage Intacct experience preferred but not required Top Perks And Benefits
