Overview
Project Engineer (Environmental Compliance & Maintenance of Traffic) M/F at VINCI Construction Grands Projets USA. The Walsh-VINCI Transit Community Partners (WVTCP) Joint Venture has been selected to construct the $2.9BN Design Build Red Line Extension (RLE) project for the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA). The RLE Mainline Design-Build (MDB) Project will extend the CTA's Red Line by 5.6 miles, from 95th/Dan Ryan south to 130th Street and Doty Avenue. The Project Engineer (Environmental Compliance & Maintenance of Traffic) will be responsible for ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with design specifications and safety standards. Duties and Responsibilities
Provides technical input for project work plan and scheduling. Identifies risk elements of production, materials, equipment, or process that could negatively impact the budget or schedule. Assists in the production and review of shop drawings, design specifications, material requirements and project data to ensure quality and contract specification compliance. Assists the development of design drawings and provides technical input, as needed. Meets with engineering team to review production schedule and confirm all materials, equipment and resources are readily available for production to continue schedule and within budget. Evaluates weekly and monthly production, schedule, and budget projections to accurately track project performance. Documents daily activities using approved methods and technologies. Reviews project schedule updates weekly for owner and management reporting. Attends weekly meetings and presents project production status as needed. Prepares and manages a three-week work plan. Notifies engineering and project management of significant schedule changes and develops solutions to mitigate delays and cost. Initiates and manages Requests for Information (RFIs) as needed. Remits accurate project quantities using assigned project cost coding to ensure financial reporting accuracy. Oversees invoices regarding materials, equipment, and subcontractor needs in collaboration with the project accounting team. Supports engineering team with quality assurance as needed. Reviews certificates and permits needed to perform work. Reviews required Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) to ensure a safe and compliant work environment for all construction personnel. Participates in weekly safety meetings with the field team and project leadership; presents field analysis as needed. Assists the project team with project schedule, budget, and cost parameters by providing technical input as needed. Coordinates subcontractor work methods, schedule and crews as needed. Salary
$80,000.00 - $165,000.00 Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management or a related field. 3-6 years construction engineering experience in environmental compliance and Maintenance of Traffic. Proven skill and ability in managing and providing technical input to engineering teams in a design-build environment, setting clear expectations and delegating tasks to direct reports. Advanced planning and scheduling skills; ability to manage multiple engineering tasks in a demanding environment. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Advanced knowledge of contract specifications and quality assurance practices. Able to identify budget and project costs and recommend options to mitigate delays. Strong verbal, written and presentation skills. Strong knowledge of financial reporting methods, quantity tracking, and cost coding. Able to lead direct reports and influence non-reporting teams toward common deliverables. Able to identify and implement growth opportunities in direct reports to build talent within the project team. Ability to communicate effectively and interface with others. Preferred
Familiarity with CTA standards. Previous MOT, utilities, and/or roadway heavy civil construction experience. Work Environment
Dynamic and challenging work environment on construction sites. Maintenance and repair of heavy machinery; adherence to safety protocols; PPE required on-site (hard hats, safety glasses, reflective vests). Physical Demands
