The Washington National Opera (WNO) Assistant Manager of Individual Giving (AMIG) reports to WNO’s Director of Major Gifts and is an essential member of the WNO Major Gifts team and the Kennedy Center Development department. The AMIG is charged with the retention, stewardship, and ongoing management of WNO\'s Circles membership (donors who annually give between $1,800-$24,999), and the identification, cultivation, and acquisition of prospective Circles-level contributors. Donations from Circles patrons are a cornerstone of WNO’s annual contributed income goals, and the AMIG helps sustain and grow this base of support.

As a member of the Major Gifts team, the AMIG also helps identify Circles members with Major Gifts-level capacity (contributions above $25,000) and, through stewardship and collaboration with WNO leadership and Major Gifts Officers, helps migrate such patrons into Major Gifts portfolios. The AMIG is the primary point-of-contact for Circles donors, connecting with them to ensure their involvement is meaningful and enjoyable through meetings, visits, phone calls, written communications, performance assistance, and individualized concierge services.

Together with the WNO Development team, the AMIG helps achieve annual fundraising and campaign goals through Circles cultivation and management, participation in strategic planning, campaigns, new initiatives, the annual gala, and donor/prospect events. The AMIG works with Center-wide colleagues to advance goals and results for the institution. This is an excellent position for professional development.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee the WNO Circles program by stewarding, soliciting, and identifying current and prospective Circles supporters; manage engagement and strengthen financial commitment. Maintain a cyclical calendar for renewals and acquisitions, coordinating a multi-staged annual campaign with various communications and engagement activities. Create or oversee Circles communications materials for renewals; document pledges and payments; draft acknowledgement letters; identify and acquire new members. Maintain donor records, pledge payment schedules, gift histories, and strategic moves within the CRM system to ensure accurate stewardship and reporting. Assist with prospect research, donor profiles, and major gifts solicitations as needed; support deadlines with colleagues. Participate in WNO Major Gifts and Kennedy Center Development meetings; contribute to strategic planning and campaigns. Assist with planning and duties for WNO\'s annual gala and donor cultivation events. Other duties as assigned.

Key Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree Minimum 2 years professional development experience; experience with Boards and team-based goals Knowledge of fundraising principles, accounting procedures, development trends, prospect research, and boards; experience with large cultural institutions helpful Self-motivated, creative, collaborative, entrepreneurial; able to multi-task and work with varied personalities Ability to work with limited supervision and participate in strategy discussions; strong problem-solving and communication skills Ability to collaborate across a matrixed organization and leverage cross-department expertise Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills; persuasive communicator Experience with Tessitura or other CRM systems Interest in music, opera, and the arts is helpful Local to the DMV area or willing to relocate (relocation assistance not provided) Willing to work onsite

Additional Information

Working outside normal hours (evenings and weekends) is expected during performance seasons, primarily during WNO performances and events. Normal hours are in-office when not attending donor meetings. The WNO/Kennedy Center environment is fast-paced and values creativity, initiative, efficiency, diversity, and teamwork.
