Overview

Senior Full Stack Developer – Java & Cloud Native Technology Expert at Kemper. Location: Dallas, TX; Downers Grove, IL; St. Louis, MO. This role focuses on building scalable, secure, cloud-native solutions for the Life Insurance technology team using Java, Spring, React, Python, and AWS. Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain full-stack applications using Java (Spring Boot, Spring Batch) and modern JavaScript frameworks (React/Angular). Lead and implement solutions across Java and Python technologies and development frameworks. Create reusable libraries, frameworks, and templates to drive standardization and code reuse. Collaborate with front-end and back-end teams to build scalable, secure, and responsive web applications. Lead innovation using AWS out-of-the-box tech stacks and resources. Apply Python and GenAI where applicable to drive automation and intelligent features. Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for seamless deployment and automated testing. Ensure code quality using SonarQube and static code analysis practices. Develop automation scripts using PowerShell and other scripting tools for deployment and environment management. Deploy and operate solutions on AWS (EC2, Lambda, RDS, S3, ECS, etc.). Participate in solution architecture, peer reviews, and technical strategy discussions. Mentor junior developers and foster a collaborative engineering culture focused on continuous improvement. Qualifications

10+ years of hands-on experience in full-stack software development and system architecture. Strong backend skills in Java, Spring Boot, Spring Batch, and related Java technologies. Front-end experience with JavaScript, React, Angular, HTML, and CSS. Experience with AWS cloud services and infrastructure design, provisioning, and optimization. Solid understanding of CI/CD processes and tools (Jenkins, GitLab, GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline). Experience with SonarQube for enforcing code quality. Proficient in PowerShell and automation for cloud and on-prem environments. Expertise in Python and familiarity with GenAI platforms such as OpenAI and Amazon Bedrock. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Preferred Qualifications

AWS Certification (Developer or Solutions Architect) is a plus. Experience in Life Insurance or broader insurance domain. Familiarity with Agile methodologies and cross-functional teams. Experience with Docker and Kubernetes. Employment Details

Hybrid work location; six weeks of in-office training in Downers Grove, followed by a hybrid schedule requiring weekly reporting to Downers Grove. Salary range: $108,600 to $180,900.
