Responsibilities
Review calculations of estimated operating and tax expense recovery billings for new and amended leases
Provide oversight and guidance to Accountants/Senior Accountants on complex lease calculations; may personally handle highly complex properties
Review operating and tax expense reconciliations (true-ups) in accordance with lease and management agreements
Ensure timely and accurate maintenance of financial records in compliance with GAAP or other applicable accounting standards
Oversee accounting for key events such as acquisitions, dispositions, debt modifications, and interest capitalization
Conduct general ledger reviews and detailed financial analysis
Assist with annual property budgets, projections, and planning; review supporting reports and schedules prepared by junior staff
Coordinate and review documentation for audits (external, internal, and tenant)
Review monthly and quarterly financial statements and work closely with property managers and accounting teams to ensure accuracy
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in industrial real estate or commercial property management
Strong understanding of lease structures and GAAP accounting principles
Proven experience supervising or mentoring accounting staff
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial systems
CPA or progress toward CPA required
