About The Team And Role The Developer Tooling team empowers Scribd engineers across the entire software development lifecycle. We build and evolve the tools and frameworks that power engineering workflows, modernize infrastructure, optimize build and deployment processes, and expand development capabilities. Our work drives broad, meaningful impact by boosting productivity and improving the developer experience company-wide.
What You’ll Do
Create and maintain internal libraries, components, and utilities used by Scribd engineers
Make improvements to our AWS infrastructure, including application networking and traffic routing, using Terraform
Build, maintain, and improve tools and frameworks that streamline development workflows, including modernizing tooling, optimizing build processes, and enhancing development capabilities
Collaborate with other engineers and cross-functional teams to identify bottlenecks and implement solutions that increase efficiency and productivity
Key Attributes
4+ years of professional experience as a software engineer
Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills
Curiosity-driven individual with a growth mindset
Comfortable navigating DevOps workflows and modern cloud infrastructure
Experience We Value
Developer tooling CLIs
Infrastructure as code and cloud automation experience, including AWS and Terraform
Application networking, traffic routing, CDN configuration, and caching strategies
Observability, performance profiling, and optimization

Compensation and Location At Scribd, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package and is determined within a range. Our pay ranges are based on local cost of labor benchmarks for each role, level, and geographic location. San Francisco is our highest geographic market in the United States. In California, the reasonably expected salary range is between $126,000 (minimum in our lowest California market) and $196,000 (maximum in our highest California market). In the United States outside California, the range is between $103,500 and $186,500. In Canada, the range is between $131,500 CAD and $174,500 CAD. The salary range listed is for the level at which this job has been scoped; higher or lower pay ranges may apply for different levels. This position is eligible for a competitive equity package and a comprehensive benefits program.
