As a Silicon Photonics Validation and Characterization Test Engineer in the Optical IO team, you will collaborate with Product Development Groups, Silicon Design, DFT, Packaging, and key technology partners. You will help architect, develop, and drive validation and characterization test solutions for silicon photonics from concept through production deployment. The Person
This is a technical leadership position requiring engineering experience in semiconductor validation and characterization with a focus on silicon photonics. The candidate should be able to tackle complex test and manufacturing challenges for silicon photonics and optical interconnect technologies, and communicate effectively across teams to define long-term test solutions. Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with silicon design, product & test, and packaging teams to architect and define test solutions for silicon photonics at wafer-sort, die-level, and CPO-level Collaborate with design, packaging, and key suppliers to understand structural and parametric mechanisms affecting performance, yield, reliability, and quality Interface with suppliers to provide technical inputs and test requirements for end-to-end production-ready solutions Provide deep knowledge to train other teams and engineers in silicon photonics from design and packaging to volume test Identify and mitigate test challenges and lead large technical projects and processes to timely completion Specify and develop test fixtures in collaboration with Hardware, PCB, and Firmware engineers Develop test automation software in collaboration with design engineers Preferred Experience/Skills
Experience in optical interconnects and silicon photonics General test and manufacturing experience for silicon photonics Strong communication skills and ability to work with geographically distributed teams Software development for test automation (e.g., PyVISA, MATLAB, or similar tools) Familiarity with wireline analog/digital signal processing concepts and optical communication system concepts Hands-on experience with high-speed test equipment (e.g., BER testers, DCA, oscilloscopes, VNAs, AWGs) Hands-on experience with optical test equipment (e.g., swept lasers, power meters, optical spectrum analyzers, OTDRs, amplifiers) Hands-on experience with electro-optic wafer and die-level test systems Experience leading validation and characterization test engineers and technicians At least 10 years of industrial experience in validation and test of leading-edge EIC/PIC products in high-volume production Academic Credentials
MS or PhD in Electrical, Computer Engineering, Optics & Photonics Engineering, or comparable disciplines Location
