Overview

Certified Anesthesiologist Assistant (CAA) at United Digestive works with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver high-quality, holistic, evidence-based anesthesia services. Responsibilities include evaluating patients prior to endoscopy procedures and administering anesthesia, including monitoring during and after procedures under the supervision of a qualified anesthesiologist. Responsibilities

Perform pre-screening evaluation (pre-calls) prior to the day of procedure by telephone and chart review. Assist the anesthesiologist in gathering routine pre-operative data. Perform preliminary pre-anesthesia evaluation and physical exam for review by the anesthesiologist. Administer pre-anesthetic medications and/or treatment as prescribed by the anesthesiologist. Obtain and prepare equipment, standard monitors, supplies, and drugs for the administration of sedation and anesthesia; perform safety checks as needed. Administer prescribed analgesic and anesthetic agents, adjuvant drugs, and fluids necessary to provide anesthesia services. Perform all aspects of airway management. Assist and facilitate recovery from anesthesia by evaluating patient response and administering medications or fluids to maintain stability during transfer. Administer prescribed post-anesthesia pharmacological or fluid support of the cardiovascular system and respiratory support to ensure adequate ventilation and oxygenation in the post-anesthesia period. Evaluate patient response to anesthesia and endoscopy; take corrective action during the post-anesthesia period. Participate in post-anesthesia evaluation and care. Respond to life-threatening situations (e.g., CPR) per established protocols (BLS, ACLS, PALS). Support patient safety and participate in safety and continuous quality improvement initiatives; identify and correct observed risks. Report adverse events and near misses to appropriate management; communicate risks in processes, procedures, and devices to those in charge. Qualifications

Holds current active state licensure as a Certified Anesthesiologist Assistant and complies with applicable state requirements for CAAs. Graduate of an accredited anesthesiologist assistant educational program. Currently certified or recertified by the NCCAA. One to three years of anesthesia experience strongly preferred; prior endoscopy experience a plus; proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and EMR systems; ProVation MultiCare Giver experience preferred. Additional Skills And Experience

Ability to perform clinically as a CAA in the endoscopy setting. Ability to operate and interpret data from equipment to provide anesthesia care. Demonstrate knowledge and skills for patient population care. Excellent verbal and written communication to collaborate with clinical staff and other disciplines. Courtesy and respect when interacting with team members, patients, physicians, and visitors. Adhere to company policies and procedures. Professional Development

Requires standing and walking for extended periods; lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds. Travel as needed by the business.
