Provide accurate coordination and implementation of scheduling, registration, insurance verification, co-pay collection, telephone management, patient portal management and patient discharge (check-out) for various hospital departments and provider locations within the Topsham Care Center and partner organizations. Schedule complex visits or procedures, coordinating the appropriate resources needed for each patient, including collaboration with up to five different resources. Complete multiple tasks simultaneously while ensuring patient accounts meet organization standards, policies and procedures, HIPAA, and regulatory compliance (pre-registration and registration functions). Provide exceptional customer service to patients, providers, and all departments. Maintain and update patient registration and department schedules based on verified information; communicate required pre-procedure responsibilities and referrals, contacts and follow-up as required by each specialty. Maintain knowledge of services offered and systems such as Cerner; manage inquiries regarding billing, scheduling, and referrals per departmental procedures. Discharge processing: review encounter forms for completeness and provider instructions; schedule follow-up visits as instructed. Record detailed documentation on patient accounts; assist with projects and shift coverage as needed. Demonstrate professionalism, confidentiality and a patient-centered approach in all interactions. Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Experience: Minimum of one year in direct patient service; preferably in a healthcare setting; minimum of two years in scheduling/registration and medical terminology; knowledge of insurance requirements (Medicare/Medicaid). Skills: Proficiency with data entry; ability to engage patients and team members; strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills; ability to multitask and provide service recovery; remains calm in busy environments.
