The G90 Urology/Medical-Surgical Telemetry Unit cares for post-operative urology and overflow surgical patients, focusing on pain control, return of bowel and bladder function, DVT prevention, and ambulation. The patient population ranges from young adult to geriatric, with a typical population around 65 years old. Primary procedures include partial nephrectomy, radical nephrectomy, radical prostatectomy, urolithiasis, and cystectomy with continent/incontinent urinary diversion. Responsibilities
Participate in a residency core curriculum based on individual learning needs. Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach. Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care based on acuity, patient preference, and resource availability. Respond to data indicating risk to patients’ health and initiate actions to correct, reduce, or prevent risk. Seek supervision, consultation, and assistance when unable to perform safely and independently. Document in patients’ medical records. Schedule
A caregiver in this position works rotating shifts (7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. or 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.). Qualifications
Minimum qualifications
Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing. Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN). Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA). New graduate RN or less than one year of RN work experience. Preferred qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Physical & Safety
Requires full range of body motion including lifting and handling patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extended periods. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires ability to work under stressful conditions and irregular hours. Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids. Medium to light physical demand depending on task, with occasional lifting of 20–50 pounds. Personal Protective Equipment
