Registered Respiratory Therapist - 36 Hours (Nights, Weekends Required) - 15K Sign-On Bonus at Boston Medical Center (BMC). This position offers a $15,000.00 Sign-On Bonus for external applicants to join the Respiratory Therapy team at Boston Medical Center - Brighton. The promotion is available from June 30th until September 30th. Responsibilities/Essential Functions

Provide superior customer service to internal and external clients, customers, and patients as referenced in the Service Excellence Standards. Review medical records including physician orders for completeness, indications for therapy, and potential contraindications prior to administering therapies/medications in accordance with AARC CPG. Conduct clinical patient assessments including but not limited to cardiac, pulmonary, and neurologic status; perform assessments of patients and deliver systems (e.g., Ventilator Systems) in accordance with AARC CPG and departmental standards. Assemble and verify equipment per manufacturer specifications; monitor equipment function and take corrective action as needed. Administer ordered therapy while monitoring outcomes, hazards, or complications; adjust ventilators to ensure therapeutic effectiveness. Perform airway management, chest physiotherapy, postural drainage, and sputum induction as needed to maintain patient airways (in accordance with AARC CPG). Document patient assessments, therapies delivered, monitoring results, responses, and complications in the medical record per AARC CPG. Provide emergency response for cardiopulmonary arrest and respiratory emergencies; maintain BLS certification annually; participate in multidisciplinary care planning and pulmonary rehabilitation for difficult-to-wean patients as part of the health care team. Maintain and disinfect departmental equipment; assist with stock levels and report malfunctions. Measure and calibrate pulmonary function and related parameters; operate and maintain pulmonary function equipment according to manufacturers’ recommendations and departmental standards. With appropriate training, assist in bronchoscopy, sleep studies, bronchial provocation, and exercise testing as needed. Maintain departmental documentation including patient charts, therapy records, quality assurance, and patient charges; contribute to departmental quality assurance programs and audits. Engage in professional development through in-service meetings, continuing education, and participation in respiratory therapy societies as appropriate. Report on patient condition, therapies, goals, responses, adverse reactions, and hospital variance as part of shift-to-shift communication. Qualifications

Minimum Experience: Will consider applicants with less than one year of respiratory therapy experience. Minimum Skills/Abilities: Interpersonal and communication skills sufficient to explain respiratory therapy/pulmonary function test procedures to patients. Certification/Licensure: RRT license in respiratory therapy by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification preferred. Training: Must obtain sufficient annual Continuing Education to maintain license. Additional Information
